John Cena
John Felix Anthony Cena known as John Cena (/ˈsiːnə/ SEE-nə; born April 23, 1977) is an American actor and professional wrestler. As a wrestler, he has been signed to WWE since 2001, but has performed part-time since 2018.
A record 16-time world champion as recognized by WWE alongside Ric Flair, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.

John Cena moved to California in 1998 to pursue a bodybuilding career and switched to professional wrestling in 1999, making his debut for Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW).
In 2001, he signed with WWE (then WWF) and was assigned to its developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), where he won the OVW Heavyweight Championship and OVW Southern Tag Team Championship.
After moving up to WWE’s main roster on SmackDown in 2002, he became a breakout success after adopting the character of a villainous trash-talking rapper.

Early life
John Cena was born in West Newbury, Massachusetts, on April 23, 1977, to Carol (née Lupien) and former Chaotic Wrestling ring announcer John Joseph Cena.
His mother is of English and French-Canadian descent, while his father has Italian ancestry. He has one older brother named Dan and three younger brothers named Matt, Steve, and Sean. He was raised Roman Catholic.
His maternal grandfather was baseball player Tony Lupien, while his maternal great-grandfather was businessman Ulysses J. Lupien.
He is also a cousin of computer scientist Natalie Enright Jerger. A childhood fan of wrestling, he would create championship belts out of cardboard for himself and his brothers.
He was teased and beaten up while in school, prompting him to ask his parents for a weightlifting bench at the age of 12.

Cena was educated at Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Massachusetts, before transferring to the private prep boarding school Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Massachusetts.
He then attended Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts, where he was an NCAA Division III All-American center and football team captain.
He graduated in 1999 with a degree in exercise physiology and body movement, after which he pursued a bodybuilding career and worked as a limousine driver. He also worked in the store area of Gold’s Gym.
Personal Life
John Cena resides in Land o’ Lakes, Florida. He has said numerous times that he does not want to have children because he does not want to be an absentee parent while he is focused on his career.
While promoting his 2009 film 12 Rounds, Cena announced his engagement to Elizabeth Huberdeau. They were married on July 11, 2009.

On May 1, 2012, Cena filed for divorce, which was finalized on July 18. Later that year, he began dating fellow wrestler Nikki Bella.
They became engaged when Cena proposed to her at WrestleMania 33 on April 2, 2017, but ended their relationship in April 2018; they had been scheduled to marry on May 5.
On October 12, 2020, Cena married girlfriend Shay Shariatzadeh, whom he had been dating since early 2019, in a private ceremony in Tampa, Florida.
The two met during the production of Cena’s 2019 film Playing with Fire, which was filmed in Vancouver, where Shariatzadeh works.
Cena started learning Mandarin Chinese in 2016 to help the WWE expand its reach, and he spoke in Mandarin at a press conference in China. He also revealed in April 2018 that he learned to play the piano.
In December 2017, the Ford Motor Company filed a lawsuit against Cena for selling his 2017 Ford GT, therefore violating his purchase agreement.
According to Ford, he signed a contract to keep the car for at least two years but breached the agreement by selling it to make a net profit shortly after receiving it.
On June 19, 2018, the two sides reached an undisclosed settlement, with Cena apologizing to Ford and Ford promising to donate the settlement to charity.
In July 2018, Cena briefly moved to China, where he settled in Yinchuan. He went on to create a YouTube show on WWE’s channel, highlighting his trips to local stores and markets.
He explained that he would be living there for five months while working on a film, Hidden Strike, with Jackie Chan. The shoot concluded in November 2018.

John Cena’s rise to the top tiers of wrestling was quick. In the same year as his debut, he won the Ultimate Pro Wrestling heavyweight championship and gained the attention of the WWE.

Simultaneously with his wrestling career, John Cena began acting, and he first gained attention for such action movies as The Marine (2006), 12 Rounds (2009), and The Reunion (2011).
In 2018 he played a military officer in Bumblebee, a prequel in the Transformers series.
Three years later he joined another popular franchise, the Fast and Furious. Cena appeared in F9: The Fast Saga (2021) and was also cast in the sequel Fast X (2023).

In 2021 he starred in Vacation Friends, about two couples who begin an unlikely friendship while on a trip to Mexico; he reprised his role in the 2023 sequel.

In 2018 John Cena released his first children’s book, Elbow Grease, about a monster truck. He followed that up with several more books in the series, including Elbow Grease vs. Motozilla (2019) and Fast Friends (2020).
